cupcake!

I have said many times in the past and will hold it to be true until I have no breath, word are the most powerful thing we possess. They have the power to hurt or heal. Words can leave scars that tear over and over, or they can serve as a reminder of where you have been and how strong you’ve become. Words are a gift.

Words in the form of poetry can mean something different to each person that reads it. The author may mean one thing and it may touch you in a different way. That is the beauty of words. This was a gift to me when I needed to hear it. I share it because my friend needs to hear the words and receive the gift she chooses to take just as I did.

Wild Geese
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting–
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
